Made A Rustic Shelf

Here is a rustic shelf I made out of Aromatic Cedar. I purchased the wood from Seth at the Urban Lumber Company in Springfield Oregon. I have a very small apartment. This shelf gave me a little more floor space - every little bit helps.

I love the shelf its rough honest look makes me daydream of a log cabin in the woods with the smell of bacon frying in cast iron pan competing with the pine forest.

My mother in law lives up in Oregon and the air seems so much sweeter and cleaner up there I can hardly wait for our next visit.

Thanks, It was real easy to make - even for me. My dream is also of a cabin but at the edge of the woods with a great view of the mountains and a BLT or two sounds real good.

If you get a chance check out the view in Central Oregon - Sisters and Bend area, and look back at the Cascade Range - Beautiful -- and get to Joseph in NE Oregon it is another great spot. Oregon has a lot of deversity Coast, Mountains, High Desert, The Columbia Gorge... just don't tell anyone.

It is nice when the air is clean - right now we are getting smoke coming in from California. I live in the Willamette Valley so if not from our forest fires we still get some field burning too - we are working on that one.

That is beautiful, and so much of a space saver. My computer desk is an old wicker dresser, small and just the right height, but THAT is beautiful.

Thanks Brigid, I can't take too much credit for the beautiful part - Mother Nature did that but I did cut the plank and dowel it together. I didn't even sand much and didn't put a finish on it. It has it's own natural beauty. I did pick the side and edge to show - so there Mother Nature. It smells really nice if I do sand it a little. I'm going to add a drawer with maybe a antler pull to the bottom of the shelf then I can say it's a desk - I have some ideas on some lamps with elk shades and antler pull chains hopefully soon. Thanks again for the nice comment and for being the first to follow my blog - it is very appreciated and again - you have a great blog site Brigid!
